Holiday Treats Guide~ Homemade Irish Cream!

After the year we have all had who wouldn’t want to add a smooth sweet cocktail to the list of must have’s this holiday season lol. Just kidding but if you would like to add a special drink to menu, homemade irish cream is a perfect holiday cocktail!

The idea of mixing dairy cream and whiskey together was one way to handle an upset stomach back in the old days. The problem was that the two would only mix well together for a very short time – and this where the Baileys Co. came in.

November 26th 1974, by way of an accident, Bailey’s Irish Cream Liqueur was born. A stroke of genius which saw the addition of a little chocolate, vanilla and burnt sugar, led to the breakthrough that helped the company to mix the two unlikely liquids together.

This cocktail is perfect on it’s own over a little ice, mixed into your morning coffee, or as a frozen cocktail shake mixed with vanilla iced cream!

You can purchase a pretty sealed container to store this for up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator. Add a cute handmade tag and it makes a great gift! Here is what you need to make your own Irish Whiskey

  • 200ml Irish whiskey, I prefer Bushmills
  • 1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 c. Strongly brewed coffee
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. Heavy cream
  • 3 Tbsp chocolate syrup
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract

Add ingredients to a blender and blend well on a medium speed until well incorporated and slightly frothy. Pour into sealable container, and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. Shake well before serving.
