Holiday Treats Guide~Cinnamon Ornaments

Another homemade element on my kitchen tree were these adorable cinnamon ornaments. This is a GREAT project for kids and it’s not expensive at all! Just two ingredients and a little time that’s all you need!

Here is what you need!

  • 1 1/4c. Cinnamon this is equal to one full 5.4oz container.
  • Applesauce start with a quarter cup and gradually add a Tbsp at a time until you get a good dough consistency.

Other supplies you’ll need:

  • Cookie cutters
  • Twine or yarn
  • A straw
  • A parchment lined baking sheet

Preheat the oven to 250°F. Mix together the cinnamon and applesauce until it forms a dough that can be rolled out smoothly. If it’s wet add more cinnamon, too dry add more applesauce! Very easy. Sprinkle cinnamon on your surface and on the dough and roll out to a 1/4 in thickness. Cut into shapes and use the straw to punch a hole in the top of each ornament. Place on lined sheet pan and bake for 1hr until dried and firm. Allow to cool. Thread them with twine and hang on your tree, wreath, or as gift tags!

If you want to jazz then up a little more use white royal icing and allow to dry before hanging. Maybe add a little glitter to the dough before baking, or you can even mod-podge fabric accents onto them! Have fun with it!
