Cranberry sauce is one of my favorite additions to our thanksgiving meal. I enjoy it with my turkey the tart fresh flavor cuts through the fattiness of the gravy and I’m a sucker for sweets so this really sings to me. Many people like the canned version plain on it’s own. The following recipe can be poured into a clean empty can and will look just like the store bought version but it tastes SO much better! This can be made in advance and will store in the refrigerator for up to one week in a covered container. Here is what you need!

1 bag of fresh cranberries about 2 cups
1/4c orange juice
1/4c cranberry juice
1 c. Maple syrup
Pinch of salt
Zest of one orange
Simmer all of the ingredients on Medium heat in a large sauce pan approximately 15minutes. Thr cranberries will swell and burst and the sauce will start to thicken. Remove from heat and mash the cranberries. Pour into serving dish and refrigerate. Serve chilled, enjoy!
